Spring Homeschool Day - March 5

Calling all Homeschool Students! Join us for a fun and educational day of learning at the Aquarium during one of our Homeschool Programs. The Oregon Coast Aquarium is a living classroom for all learners and offers a unique opportunity to discover the wildlife and ecosystems of the Oregon coast.

See below for details regarding our next two Homeschool Day date and events below.

Join us Thursday, March 5th for a fun and educational day of learning at the Aquarium! We will be hosting several Educational Programs (registration required) for homeschool students throughout the day as well as a variety of open-access activities (no pre-registration required).

Additional Program Details: 
  • $5 per student/program (Admission is not included. To apply for the School Group Discount for admission, please complete the online field trip booking form.)
  • Program Duration: 1 hour
  • Parents/Guardians are welcome to stay and observe the classroom programs, but due to limited space may not be able to join the tour. Non-registered students are invited to explore the Aquarium with their parent/guardian during their siblings program.

My Ocean Habitat (Grades PreK - 2)
My Ocean Habitat

Grades PreK – 2, Ages 3 – 8

What makes a habitat a home? What do fish, birds, and mammals need to survive and thrive in Oregon’s coastal and marine habitats? Join us as we explore what makes a habitat a home for the different animals who live there, and how the Aquarium creates healthy habitats for the animals who call it home.

Grades 1 – 2nd, Ages 6 – 8

How do tidepool animals thrive in Oregon’s wild waves? Discover how through a hands-on investigation of these creatures and their amazing features which help them survive. Compare and contrast these features with familiar objects to learn how nature inspires human inventions!

Sharks: Sense and Survival (Grades 3 - 5)

Grades 3 – 5th, Ages 8 – 10

Dive in with us as we examine the features that help sharks thrive throughout our world’s oceans. Students will better understand shark senses by exploring their own and investigate traits that we do not share with these fascinating survivors.

The Quest for Water Quality (Grades 6 - 8)

Grades 6 – 8th, Ages 11 – 13

Come investigate the health of our water by collecting, measuring, and analyzing data from several water sources at the Aquarium. Discover how water quality impacts Oregon coast wildlife, and then take a peak behind the scenes to learn more about the Aquarium ensures healthy water for the animals in its care.

Career Talk & Behind the Scenes Tour (Grades 8 - 12)
Career Talk & Behind the Scenes Tour
10:30 – 11:30am

Grades 8 – 12, Ages 12 – 18

This tour takes students behind-the-scenes to discover all about the science of animal care, training and water quality. How does the Aquarium care for a swarm of stinging jellies, and dozens of toothy sharks? Travel behind-the-scenes with us to explore the science behind caring for over 15,000 animals every day and discover what career possibilities await you.

Don’t want to register for a program? Drop by a keeper talk, animal cart, challenge yourself to become a Jr. Aquarist, or many other non-registration activities throughout the day.

Parents/Guardians are welcome to stay and observe most of the programs (please indicate your intention to stay on your application), but due to limited space may not be able to join the Behind the Scenes Tour. Younger siblings of students in grades 3 and up are invited to explore the Aquarium with their parent/guardian during their siblings’ program.
