Appearance

The white-spotted rose anemone has a reddish or pink-colored column with white dots, which are sticky verrucae; the oral disc may be the same color as the column or might be green or olive-colored, with dark red bands radiating from the center. The conical tentacles are just a bit longer than the radius of the oral disc and are colored red, rose, or white along most of their length, and white at the base.

Habitat

Rocky intertidal to subtidal where it attaches to stones or rock to depths of 50 feet

Diet

Omnivorous; snails, crustaceans, bryozoans, and algae

Life History

White-spotted rose anemones are internal brooders, with offspring retained within the gastrovascular cavity.

The anemones can reach 8 inches across and 6 inches high.
