Aquarium Youth Volunteers Bring Storm Drain Art To Newport

Oregon Coast Aquarium youth volunteers partnered with the Surfrider Foundation to create a painting of a whale around a storm drain at the Nye Beach Turnaround in Newport. The “Storm Drain Art Project” intends to raise awareness about storm water and runoff pollution. Rescued Sea Lions Arrive At Aquarium

Two young female California sea lions arrived by truck at their new home at the Oregon Coast Aquarium March 3, accompanied by Aquarium husbandry staff. The animals will be in quarantine, and will not be on display to the public for 60 days. Enrollment Is Open For Adult Volunteer Spring Training

The Oregon Coast Aquarium has opened enrollment for its 2010 Adult Volunteer Spring Training. In addition to interpretive volunteer training, volunteer positions are being offered in facility maintenance, the Aquarium gift shop, special events, exhibits and administration. The Oregon Coast Aquarium is looking for teenagers to join its youth volunteer team. Young people have an opportunity to explore the fascinating world of marine science and share their knowledge as Aquarium interpreters. Rescued Sea Turtles Depart For San Diego

The Oregon Coast Aquarium’s role in rehabilitating two stranded sea turtles was completed January 28 as the turtles were picked up in Newport by a C-130 Hercules plane from Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento, and flown to San Diego. “Myrtle” and “Maude” will then be transferred to the SeaWorld Turtle Rehabilitation Center where they will complete rehabilitation and ideally, be released back int... more

Aquarium Staff Is “Guardedly Optimistic” About Sea Turtles

Angel Unites Rivals, Warms Hearts
