Pucker Up for an Unforgettable Valentine’s Day at the Oregon Coast Aquarium

February 10, 2014

Newport, Oregon— The Oregon Coast Aquarium invites its visitors to seal this Valentine’s Day in their memories with a whiskery kiss. The Aquarium’s seals and sea lions will pucker up for special, discounted encounters in honor of Valentine’s Day on February 14, 15 and 16.

Participants may delight in experiencing a sign of affection from such unique, charismatic animals; but sea lion smooches and seal kisses are serious business for the Aquarium’s animals.

The staff at the Aquarium constantly strive to keep the animals under their care in tip-top shape, both physically and mentally. This includes developing training programs so the animals learn new behaviors throughout their lives as a form of enrichment. Training the seals and sea lions to kiss visitors is just a small part of the enrichment program that also adds a new dimension to these animals’ role as ambassadors for their species.

This unforgettable experience is available to anyone eight years and older for $25. Availability is limited. Kisses must be booked in advance by calling 541-867-3474, extension 5401, between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

The Oregon Coast Aquarium is open every day this winter from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information visit aquarium.org or call (541) 867-3474.
