The Oregon Coast Aquarium Offers Extended Hours for Spring Break
March 15, 2013
Newport, Oregon— “There is nothing like shaking hands with the largest species of octopus in the world, or waking up in the Passages of the Deep tunnels surrounded by dozens of sharks,” said Wendy Spaulding, Education Programs Coordinator for the Oregon Coast Aquarium.
Starting Saturday, March 23 through Sunday, April 7 the Aquarium’s doors will open from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., extending its regular winter hours, to accommodate travelers over the spring break holiday.
The Aquarium staff encourage visitors to take in the sights and smells of spring flowers with the stroll through the frequently overlooked Aquarium Gardens. The sprawling naturescape features labeled native plants for viewers to brush up on their botany. Careful observers can spot local wildlife that choose to make the Gardens home.
To make the most of their visit at the Aquarium, guests may book a Behind the Scenes Tour on Saturdays at 1 p.m. or an Octopus Encounter, available Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 11:30 a.m.
The Aquarium will also host one of its popular Family Combo Sleepovers on Friday, March 29. Available for guests ages six and older, the experience features a scavenger hunt, Behind the Scenes tour and the opportunity to slumber inside the tunnels of Passages of the Deep.
