"Creatures" October 29
September 27, 2011
The event, which will collect food and money for Newport Food Pantry and the Central Coast Humane Society, offers reduced admission with a donation of two items of non-perishable food. “We invite families to enjoy a day and evening of celebration with the goal to help replenish the shelves at our local Food Pantry,” said Carrie Lewis, Aquarium President and CEO. “Times are difficult for many families and we’d like to ask everyone to be extra generous in their food donations this year,” said Lewis.
Creatures of the Day and Creatures of the Night, Saturday, October 29
Admission to both events is $2 plus 2 cans of non-perishable food, or pet food, or $5 (all ages).
Creatures of the Day – 10 am – 4 pm
Creatures of the Day will offer a costume contest at 2 pm, bake sale (proceeds to Central Coast Humane Society), dive presentations, face painting, games, children’s craft, storytelling and candy. KYTE-FM and KCRF-FM will do a live radio broadcast from 10 am to 1 pm. (Aquarium closes at 4 pm and re-opens at 6:30 pm)
Creatures of the Night – 6:30 – 8:30 pm
Creatures of the Night will feature fire dancers, a Creepshow Cinema and a Ghoulish Graveyard. Each area of the Aquarium will have a different theme, such as "Axed Men," scary movie themes and haunted caves with a murder suspect lurking nearby. Spooky divers will be in the shark tunnel. Treats will be handed out as visitors exit the Aquarium. This event is suggested for ages 10 and older; for safety reasons, strollers will not be allowed in the Aquarium for the evening event. Stroller parking will be provided.
