Fisheries Day: Dungeness Crab

Friday, December 28, 201210:00am - 4:00pm
All activities are free with the price of regular admission.

The Oregon Coast Aquarium is pleased to present our annual Fisheries Day highlighting Dungeness Crab.

“The goal of Fisheries Day is to share the success and importance of our local fisheries with the community,” said Jenni Remillard, Aquarium Education Specialist. “Locally, we have sustainable, well managed fisheries in Oregon, including the Dungeness crab fishery. This event will give people an opportunity to learn a little more about our local fisheries from the people who catch them and to have fun.”

Scheduled events include:

  • House for a Hermit Crab, an interactive story time in the Sea and Me theater at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
  • Crab encounter in Rocky Shores Gallery at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m.

Visitors will be able to see fishing gear and talk to fisherman about the local fishing industry. Information tables on recreational crabbing, activities for children and sea safety will be included... And for the brave, a very special hands-on crab encounter! Free with the price of admission.
