About The Elementary Day Camp Program
The Elementary Day Camps are open to 1st through 5th graders and are held 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Fridays only. We now offer before and after care programs as well.- July 5: Slime-ology 101. Take a walk on the gross side and discover the slimy, gooey, dirty, and sometimes smelly plants and animals that live in the sea. We’ll explore yucky, ucky mud, say hello to a hagfish, and even make some slime of our own to take home!
-
July 19: Animal Artists.
This is the camp for the budding young artist with a flair for the wild.
Campers will use the Aquarium as inspiration to create works of art
using paint and clay. We’ll even get to see a sea lion create an awesome
work of art!
- July 26: Kraken Kamp.
It will be all tentacles, suction cups and ink as we discover the
smarty-pants of the sea. Through mythology, games and squid dissections,
we’ll explore the mysterious world of the cephalopod and shake hands
with a live octopus!
-
August 2: Kidnapped Keepers.
In this camp, we’ll discover the exciting careers of three members of
our animal care staff… but they’ve been kidnapped! Our campers will
have to use all their sleuthing skills to help rescue the missing
keepers and catch the kidnapper!
- August 9: Harry Otter.
Do the otter keepers use magic to get the sea otters to cooperate in
their daily care? Through the “magic” of training, our otter training
wizards conjure up amazing working
relationships with these enchanting animals. In this camp, we’ll
discover the training tricks that work like a charm.
- August 16: Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Shark?
We’ll make a splash as we discover the
amazing sharks that call the Aquarium and the Oregon Coast home. How
many teeth do they have? Can they grow as big as a bus? From teeth to
tail, we’ll discover all things shark!
- August 23: Keiki Kahua. Aloha! Keiki Kahua is Hawaiian for “kids’ camp” and in this camp we will be exploring the beautiful Hawaiian Islands from the towering volcanoes of Pele to the crashing surf and colorful coral reefs. We’ll get to meet a relative of the endangered Hawaiian monk seal, make our own volcanoes, learn about surfing and more!
