Birds

The Aquarium is home to four species of Oregon seabirds and one shore bird species. While these species maintain robust populations off the Oregon coast, they are seldom seen. Seabirds live on the open sea except during the breeding season, when they come to remote rookeries for a brief summer season. The black oystercatcher, a shore bird, keeps to remote rocky beaches where human contact is rare.
